2008/2009 Social Media Usage 82%


A recent report from The Nielsen Company indicates that social media usage has increased by 82% between December 2008 and December 2009. Globally, social media sites and blogs are the most popular online category when ranked by average time spent in December.

In December 2009, Facebook received close to 207 million unique visitors and ranked #1 in the Social media category. The average Australian spent nearly 7 hours on social media sites in December, ranking Australia above social media leaders such as the United States, UK and Japan in terms of 'average time per person spent' [on social media sites].
